MEMORY VERSE:
“And I will make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.” – Genesis 12:2 (KJV).
GOD HONOURS THOSE WHO HONOUR HIM.
When God called Abram, He promised, “I will make thy name great.” At that time, Abram was an ordinary man with no worldly fame or power. Yet because he believed God and obeyed His call, the Lord exalted him and made him one of the most respected men in history.
True greatness does not come through human ambition but through God’s favour and a life of faithful obedience.
GOD FULFILLED HIS PROMISE:
- God faithfully fulfilled His word to Abraham.
- Genesis 17:5 – God changed Abram’s name to Abraham, meaning “father of a multitude,” because He had made him the father of many nations.
- Nehemiah 9:7 – 8 – God chose Abraham, found his heart faithful, and established His covenant with him.
- James 2:23 – Abraham was called “the Friend of God.”
- Romans 4:16 – 17 – Abraham became the spiritual father of all who believe.
- Hebrews 11:8–10 – Abraham is remembered as a great hero of faith.
Today, billions of Jews and Christians, and many others, know Abraham’s name because God fulfilled His promise.
THE SECRET OF ABRAHAM’S GREATNESS.
Abraham’s greatness was rooted in:
Faith – He believed in God’s promises (Genesis 15:6).
Obedience – He left his homeland at God’s command (Genesis 12:1–4).
Worship – He built altars and called upon the Lord (Genesis 12:7–8).
Faithfulness – He remained loyal to God even in difficult times (Genesis 22:1–18).
God exalts those who humbly trust and obey Him.
LESSON:
- God values faithfulness more than worldly fame (1 Samuel 2:30).
- Humility comes before true honour (Proverbs 22:4).
- Those who honour God will be honoured by Him (1 Samuel 2:30).
- A life devoted to Christ leaves an eternal legacy (Matthew 6:33).
HIS INVITATION TO YOU.
The greatest name anyone can have is to be called a child of God. Through faith in Jesus Christ, you can receive forgiveness, eternal life, and a place in God’s everlasting family.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for fulfilling Your promise to Abraham. Help me to live by faith, walk in obedience, and seek Your approval above the praise of people. May my life bring honour to Your name through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
