“Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art…” – Genesis 13:14
There was once a young man who stood outside a small building, looking at it with tears in his eyes.
It was not what he had dreamed about.
His business was struggling. His finances were weak. Opportunities seemed to be passing him by. People around him had already concluded that he would never amount to much.
Years earlier, he had imagined himself doing great things. He had seen himself becoming successful, helping people, building something meaningful and making his family proud. But life had not gone according to plan.
One evening, he sat alone and said, “God, I don’t know where my life is going.”
Then he remembered the story of Abraham.
God did not tell Abraham, “I will show you everything.”
God simply said:

Abraham had to look.
He had to see beyond his present location.
He had to see beyond his current circumstances.
He had to see what God was preparing before he could possess it.
GOD WANTS YOU TO SEE AGAIN:
Perhaps you have been looking at the wrong things.
You see the problem.
You see the disappointment.
You see the empty account.
You see the rejection.
You see your mistakes.
You see your age.
You see where you came from.
You see what people have said about you.
But God is saying:
“Lift up your eyes.”
There is something beyond where you are now.
Your present condition is not necessarily your final destination.
Your failure is not your identity.
Your delay is not your denial.
Your background does not have the final word about your future.
God wants you to develop a vision of what He can do with your life.
AS FAR AS YOU CAN SEE
Genesis 13:14–15 says:
“Lift up now thine eyes… for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it…”
Notice something powerful: God asked Abraham to see before He spoke about possessing.
Vision comes before manifestation.
You cannot walk confidently toward a future you cannot see.
This does not mean that everything you imagine will automatically happen. It means that faith gives you the ability to see God’s possibility beyond your present reality.
Hebrews 11:1 declares:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Faith sees what the eyes cannot yet see.
Faith says:
“I may not be there yet, but by God’s grace, I can get there.”
Faith says:
“I may be struggling today, but this is not the end of my story.”
Faith says:
“I may not have everything today, but God can take me somewhere greater tomorrow.”
STOP SEEING ONLY THE CHALLENGE:
Many people have become experts at seeing problems.
They can describe everything that is wrong.
They can tell you why the economy is difficult.
They can explain why their family background is limiting.
They can list every person who disappointed them.
They can remember every failure.
But God is asking:
“What can you see?”
Can you see yourself becoming better?
Can you see yourself rising beyond human projections?
Can you see yourself fulfilling your God-given purpose?
Can you see yourself becoming an answer to someone’s prayer?
Can you see your life becoming a testimony?
Can you see yourself serving God with your gifts?
Can you see your family experiencing a better future through you?
Can you see yourself becoming all that God has designed you to become?
Lift up your eyes!
WHERE THERE IS NO VISION:
Proverbs 29:18 says:
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
When vision disappears, hope begins to die.
A person without vision may wake up every morning but have no clear reason to keep moving.
But when God gives you a vision, your present struggles cannot easily destroy your future hope.
You begin to say:
“There is still something ahead of me.”
You begin to work differently.
You begin to pray differently.
You begin to prepare differently.
You begin to think differently.
You begin to walk by faith.
GOD CAN TAKE YOU THERE: Biblical experiences –
Joseph was betrayed, but God took him to the palace.
David was overlooked, but God took him to the throne.
Ruth experienced loss, but God gave her a new beginning.
Esther was an ordinary young woman, but God positioned her for extraordinary influence.
Abraham began with a promise, but he became the father of nations.
Their beginning did not determine their ending.
And your present situation does not have to determine yours.
Perhaps today you are standing at the beginning.
Perhaps you are discouraged because your reality looks nothing like your dream.
Perhaps people have told you that your vision is too big.
Perhaps circumstances have made you reduce your expectations.
But hear this:
Do not allow today’s limitations to become your tomorrow’s vision.
If God has placed a legitimate purpose in your heart, develop the faith, discipline, courage and obedience to pursue it.
A WORD TO THE BROKEN HEART
Maybe you once had a dream, but disappointment buried it.
Maybe someone told you that you could never succeed.
Maybe failure made you afraid to try again.
Maybe life has humbled you so much that you have stopped expecting anything good.
Today, God is saying :
“Lift up your eyes.”
Look again.
Pray again.
Believe again.
Prepare again.
Dream again.
Start again.
Not because life is easy, but because God is still God.
Your story is not over.
There are still chapters God can write.
There are still doors He can open.
There are still mountains you can climb.
There are still people you can bless.
There is still a purpose in your life.
SEE IT. BELIEVE IT. PURSUE IT.
Vision alone is not enough.
Abraham had to move.
Faith must produce obedience.
If you see yourself becoming successful, prepare for success.
If you see yourself becoming a professional, develop yourself.
If you see yourself building a great business, learn, plan and work.
If you see yourself becoming a blessing, become generous.
If you see yourself fulfilling God’s purpose, surrender your life to Him.
Do not merely see the destination – start walking toward it.
God may not show you everything at once.
He may only give you the next step.
Take it.
He may not reveal the whole road.
Trust Him for the next mile.
He may not give you the entire picture.
But if God has given you enough vision to move, move by faith.
THE MOST IMPORTANT VISION:
Above every earthly dream, there is one vision that matters most:
To know Jesus Christ and live for Him.
What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? – Mark 8:36.
Do not pursue success and lose your soul.
Do not build a great career and neglect God.
Do not become wealthy and remain spiritually empty.
Do not achieve your dreams but miss God’s purpose.
Let Christ be at the centre of your vision.
Let your ambition be surrendered to God.
Let your success glorify Him.
YOUR FUTURE IS STILL IN GOD’S HANDS
Today, God may be asking you the same question He asked Abraham:
“ What can you see? ”
Do not just see the valley. See beyond it.
Do not just see the obstacle. See the opportunity.
Do not just see where you are but See where God’s grace can take you.
Do not just see your weakness rather See what God can accomplish through you.
As far as you can see, God can take you there.
So lift up your eyes.
Lift up your faith.
Lift up your expectations.
Lift up your heart.
And begin to walk with God toward the future He has prepared for you.
PRAYER :
Heavenly Father, Open my eyes to see beyond my present circumstances. Where disappointment has blinded me, restore my vision.
Where fear has limited me, increase my faith. Where failure has discouraged me, give me courage to rise again. Help me to see the possibilities You have placed before me.
Give me wisdom to pursue the vision, strength to overcome obstacles, discipline to remain faithful, and humility to give You all the glory. Take me beyond where human beings say I can go. Lead me into Your purpose. Let my life become a testimony of Your faithfulness.
Above all, help me to keep my eyes on Jesus and never lose my soul while pursuing my dreams.
Lord, I lift up my eyes.
I choose to believe.
I choose to trust You.
I choose to move forward in Jesus’ mighty name – Amen.
REMEMBER:
“You may not be where you want to be today, but never allow your present location to determine the size of your God-given vision.”
Lift up your eyes.
See it by faith.
Walk toward it with God.
For as far as you can see, God can take you there.
